ARTIST’S STATEMENT I first took up a drawing pencil and watercolor brush as a WITC Continuing Education student through WITC in 2003, Lois Osterberg instructor. I attended workshops with Tony Van Hasselt AWS, Sterling Edwards AWS, Bridgit Austin and David Becker, all nationally known watercolor artists, and with Diana Randolph a teacher in the WITC district. I feel I am still very much in a learning stage. I particularly enjoy trying to capture nature scenes that tell a story or provoke a feeling of being a participant in the natural world. While my work has been largely realistic thus far, my goal is to loosen my style somewhat and produce more “painterly” pieces. I’m also beginning to study abstracts and painting with acrylics.
